K. Shornick, M.D. M.H.A.
Dr. Shornick received his Bachelor of Arts at University of California, Berkeley and attended medical school at U.C. San Francisco. He completed his dermatology training at Dartmouth Medical College where he was selected Chief Resident. Following a two year research fellowship at Southwestern (in Dallas), he moved to the University of Connecticut where he served as Clinical Director of Dermatology for six years.
In 1992, Dr. Shornick relocated to Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound in Seattle. There, he combined the practice of dermatology with administrative roles, including Medical Director of the Medical Review Unit) and Chairman of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. He received his MHA (Master, Health Administration) from the University of Seattle in 1999.
In 1999, Dr. Shornick was named a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow and served in the United States Senate, working predominantly on the prescription drug benefit for Medicare.
Dr. Shornick was named a “Best Doctor in America” by Woodward and White in 1998 and again in 2005. He is the current Dermatology representative to the Connecticut Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee, Treasurer of the Connecticut Dermatology Society and serves on several Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committees. Dr. Shornick is board certified in Dermatology. He has published extensively in leading dermatologic journals and textbooks. He is married and has two children and two grandchildren. He and his wife live in Salem.
