The Q-switched YAG laser is the best laser for tattoo removal.  It is specifically targeted to the pigment in tattoos.  Our laser has 4 different wavelengths or colors that we can use to pick up the different color in multicolored tattoos.  Multiple variables determine the ease of removal.  Non-professional tattoos are more easily removed than professional versions.  Black tattoos, line art, and older tattoos are more easily removed than others.

Multiple treatments are generally needed - usually between 4 and 20 treatments to remove a tattoo.  The treatments are painful and most patients choose to use a topical anesthetic.  The tattoo may blister or scab after treatments.  Treatments are usually 2 months apart.
