Glycolic acid is a Alpha Hydroxy acid that is used to rejuvinate the skin removing the top dead layers of skin. Once the old skin cells are shed, a whole new layer of fresh skin cells develops underneath.

  • The treatments help to exfoliate the skin, even out skin color and texture, increase collagen, reverse sun damage, and unclog pores.

  • Usually a series of peels is done for best results. For example, 6 treatments 3 weeks apart.

  • Side effects are usually minimal and they include redness and peeling or flaking of the skin.

Salicylic acid peels are Beta Hydroxy peels that are also used for rejuvination.

  • Salicylic acid peels are more suited for acne because the treatment is better able to penetrate into the pores of the skin.

  • These are also usually done in a series and also may cause redness and peeling.
